"This will be an event that no one will want to miss," said Michael Schwartzkopf, professor of music at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and music director of the Singing Hoosiers. "We may be rivals on the fields and on the courts, but music will bring us together in exciting harmony."

The two vocal ensembles will take the stage together at 7 p.m., Feb. 5 in Franklin Central High School's Mason Auditorium, 6215 S. Franklin Road in Indianapolis. Each ensemble will perform independently, then will join together for a grand finale.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for our two amazing universities to collaborate on stage and share our love of music," said William E. Griffel, director of Purdue Musical Organizations and the Purdue Varsity Glee Club. "We are all very excited to work together and showcase these two very talented ensembles."

Attendees can join the student performers of both schools for dinner at 4:30 p.m. in the Franklin Central High School cafeteria. Dinner tickets are $15.

Founded in 1893, the Purdue Varsity Glee Club is one of six ensembles in the Purdue Musical Organizations. Purdue has no school of music and nearly every academic major is represented in the organization.

The Indiana Singing Hoosiers group was founded in 1950 and features collegiate performers from the IU Jacobs School of Music as well as students with a variety of other majors.
