IU Press Holiday Book Sale this week at Indiana Memorial Union

First 25 customers each day to receive free copy of IU basketball book

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nov. 26, 2012

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana University Press Holiday Book Sale will take place from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, in the Georgian Room of the Indiana Memorial Union, 900 E. Seventh St. on the IU Bloomington campus.

IU Press will offer complimentary copies of "This Is Indiana: Tom Crean, the Team and the Exciting Comeback of Hoosier Basketball" to the first 25 customers each day.

The sale will feature more than 300 titles in various subject areas including music, film, photography, art, history, biographies, fiction, field guides, area studies and cookbooks, among others. Regional and bargain books will also be included, along with IU Press journals, WTIU Public Television DVDs and select Purdue University Press titles.

A selection of available works by IU professors include "Herman B Wells: The Promise of the American University," a biography by former house boy James H. Capshew; and "Mr. Tuba," Distinguished Professor Emeritus Harvey Phillips' posthumously published reflection of his life. In "Earth Works: Selected Essays," readers find wisdom and inspiration through a leading American essayist, Scott Russell Sanders, as he reflects on life, nature, family and place.

Additional local titles include "This is Indiana: Tom Crean, the Team and the Exciting Comeback of Hoosier Basketball," which celebrates the 2011-12 Hoosier men's basketball season. In "Color and Form," a catalog published in association with the Indiana University Art Museum, readers take a closer look at the elegant rotating sculptures of Morton C. Bradley Jr.; and in "Showers Brothers Furniture Company," a Bloomington family builds an empire while contributing to the development of the town and Indiana University.

In fiction, a woman's past and present collide in "An American Tune: A Novel," which follows IU student Jane Barth in the 1960s as she becomes active in the antiwar movement and then transforms into Nora Walker, a mother and wife with a new identity. Numerous additional local and national titles will be available as well.
