IU Bloomington provost to deliver State of the Campus address

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Feb. 12, 2013

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University Bloomington Provost and Executive Vice President Lauren Robel will deliver her inaugural State of the Campus address at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the Indiana University Auditorium lobby.

Robel will discuss academic initiatives at IU Bloomington in the global context of higher education. The event is free and open to the public.

The provost oversees academic and budgetary policy and priorities for the campus. In concert with IU Bloomington's deans and leaders of campus administrative units, the provost ensures the quality of the faculty and student body through academic programs and policies, student recruitment and retention, interdisciplinary leadership, research support, community and national/international outreach, and faculty promotion, tenure and recognition.

Robel became provost and executive vice president July 1, 2012, after serving as interim provost for five months. She is Val Nolan Professor of Law and served as dean of the IU Maurer School of Law in Bloomington from 2003 to 2012.

Doors to the IU Auditorium lobby will open at 2:30 p.m., 30 minutes before the address. Members of the IU Bloomington community and the general public are invited to view the address in person, via live-stream video or on IU Bloomington Campus Cable Channel 32. The address will be archived for later viewing at broadcast.iu.edu.

Note to broadcast media: A live video feed of the address will be available to Indianapolis news stations via the IndyLink fiber connection.
