Baxter BioPharma Solutions exec accepts IU Informatics advisory post

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Kelly L. Zaleski, senior director of information technology at Baxter BioPharma Solutions (BPS), is the newest member of the Dean's Advisory Council at the Indiana University School of Informatics.
She joins a group of business, community and industry leaders who advise the school on curriculum and program development, public and private sector funding, research support, long-range planning, student guidance, external relations and institutional advancement.
"Dr. Zaleski brings an impressive track record of innovation that will shape our school's direction and further advance its reputation as a leader in information technology education," said Informatics Dean J. Michael Dunn. "We look forward to her sharing her expertise with us."
Zaleski leads operations in the selection and implementation of electronic applications to support the business, quality and manufacturing processes at BPS, a contract manufacturer of pharmaceuticals and component of Baxter Healthcare Corp.
"The pursuit of excellence in education has been ingrained in me from early childhood and sparked an interest in learning and teaching that will be further realized through this opportunity to participate on the Dean's Advisory Council," Zaleski said. "I look forward to sharing my bio/pharmaceutical industry perspective and continuing to grow the School of Informatics, particularly at this momentous transition in the school's history, the departure of its founding dean."
She began her career in 1997 as an analytical chemist in BPS's quality control laboratory, from where she then advanced through a variety of management positions in quality control stability, project management, business and contract development, and regulatory affairs. She was senior director of pharmaceutical services, where she oversaw the company's strategic relationships with its contract-manufacturing customers and the acquisition of new business partners before taking on her current responsibilities.
Zaleski earned her undergraduate degree in chemistry and mathematics from Amherst College. She was awarded a doctoral degree in bioinorganic chemistry from Stanford University in 1997. She holds memberships in the American Chemical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and chairs the Networking Committee for the Indiana Health Industry Forum, of which she also serves on its board of directors.
