Indiana University Conference on Healthy Living to be held on February 27

Healthy Living Conference

INDIANAPOLIS -- The third annual Indiana University Conference on Healthy Living will be held on Feb. 27, offering the general public "Strategies for a Healthy Lifestyle," from Indiana University's leading health and fitness experts.

Emotional fitness, nutritional care for asthma, technology and our Golden Years, and cancer prevention are just some of the topics to be discussed. A panel of IU deans will offer a health forecast for the state of Indiana. A panel discussion moderated by Robert M. Goodman, dean of IU Bloomington's School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, will focus on the "Economic Impact of Chronic Disease on the State of Indiana" and will feature Mary Hill, deputy state health commissioner of Indiana.

The event will be held at the Indiana Government Conference Center, South Auditorium, 302 W. Washington St., in Indianapolis. The event is open to the public. Registrations, which are due Feb. 20, cost $25 for members of the IU Alumni Association and $55 for non-members. For a complete schedule of events or to register, visit https://www.alumni.iupui.edu.

The conference is sponsored by the School of HPER, several IUPUI schools and their alumni associations, the Central Indiana Chapter of the Indiana University Alumni Association, and the Indiana State Department of Health Community Nutrition/Obesity Prevention Office.

The keynote this year will feature a health forecast for the state of Indiana discussed by a panel made up of deans from schools from IU Bloomington and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. This includes the School of HPER Dean Goodman, School of Nursing Dean Marion Broome and School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences Dean Joyce MacKinnon. A lunch panel moderated by Goodman will discuss the "Economic Impact of Chronic Disease on the State of Indiana."
