BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University Bloomington Provost Karen Hanson has announced that IU Bloomington is soliciting applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the Hutton Honors College, a campus-wide unit that reports to the Office of the Provost.

HHC offers a General Honors Notation and supports honors work in IU Bloomington schools and departments. (See: https://www.indiana.edu/~iubhonor/)

The Dean also works with other IU scholarship-granting units and with the honors programs of departments and schools to enhance opportunities for academic excellence across the campus, facilitates the development of new programs related to HHC mission, meets with HHC students on a frequent basis, teaches HHC courses, and executes other functions as the Provost might require.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must be a tenured member of the IU Bloomington faculty, must have a commitment to excellence in honors education at a public university, and must have a vision of the role of the Hutton Honors College, as well as the following critical characteristics: an open, inclusive, and collaborative leadership style; an ability to inspire and provide leadership to the HHC staff and faculty; administrative experience at the departmental level or higher; breadth of intellectual interests and ability to work with people in the full range of academic fields at IU; and a record of accomplishment in teaching at the undergraduate level.
