INShape Indiana summit at IU Bloomington to focus on school wellness

Sept. 17, 2008

INDIANAPOLIS -- The 2008 INShape Indiana Health Summit will be Wednesday, Oct. 15, in the Indiana Memorial Union at Indiana University Bloomington. "Healthy Schools, Healthy Indiana," this year's theme, will focus on school wellness and how businesses, community organizations, health care providers and others can work with schools to improve the health of Indiana's students.

Opening remarks will be provided by State Health Commissioner Judy Monroe, M.D.; Robert M. Goodman, dean of IU Bloomington's School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation; and Suellen Reed, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction (via video presentation).

Interested education, health and social service agency staff in public, non-profit and private-sector agencies are invited to attend, as is the public. Registration is $35, and people can register at: www.inshape2008.com.

Scheduled presentations include:

  • "Improving the Health of Indiana School Teachers, Administrators and Employees"
