IU Auditorium to feature International Phenomenon Celtic Woman Nov. 8

Celtic Woman, the multi-platinum, Ireland-based Celtic music ensemble that performs both contemporary and traditional Celtic folk music, will perform at IU Auditorium Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.
On the second leg of its "Isle of Hope" tour, the group features Irish vocalists Chloë Agnew, Lynn Hilary, Lisa Kelly and Alex Sharpe and Irish violinist Máiréad Nesbitt. The group has topped the Billboard World Music chart multiple times and has received numerous music awards.
Celtic Woman will be making 37 stops across the U.S. during this tour. The group performed on MSNBC's "Today" in March and "Dancing With the Stars" in April. PBS hasaired multiple Celtic Woman television specials. The airing of the band's 2005 concert sparked a major U.S. following. During this month (November, 2009) and December, PBS will air "Celtic Woman: Songs from the Heart," a July 2009 concert recorded in Enniskerry, County Wicklow, Ireland.
Other television appearances in the past two years include "Martha Stewart," "The Megan Mullally Show," "CNN," "Live with Regis and Kelly" and "Good Morning America."
In addition to being at the top of the Billboard World Music chart, Celtic Woman was awarded "Best Celtic Group" at the 2009 Ireland Music Awards. The group was also named the Top World Music Artist by Billboard magazine in 2007. Three of the group's albums, Celtic Woman, A Christmas Celebration and A New Journey all were No. 1 on Billboard's World Music chart. Their 2008 album The Greatest Journey also debuted at number one on the Billboard World Music chart.
The 2009 tour has garnered praise from newspapers calling the gropu "angelic" and "heavenly." The Cincinnati Examiner called Celtic Woman "one of the most wildly popular singing groups on the planet," and Pittsburgh's Tribune Review claimed "it was hard, if not impossible, to avoid a standing ovation."
The Isle of Hope tour will feature Irish songs and classic and contemporary hits including "Fields of Gold," "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You" and "O, America!" along with songs from the band's Greatest Hits album.
