Nov. 2, 2009
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University Athletics Director Fred Glass will speak with students at the Indiana Memorial Union Market on Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. This is a free event arranged by the Indiana Memorial Union Board to allow students to contribute to the future of the IU athletics experience.
The purpose of this event is to allow students to ask Glass questions or provide comments about IU's athletics program.
IU President Michael McRobbie selected Glass as athletics director about one year ago to replace Rick Greenspan, who resigned at the end of last year.
Glass graduated from IU in 1981 and also received his law degree from IU in 1984. Upon taking the position of athletics director in 2008, Glass spoke of his understanding of athletics as an integral part of IU. As an IU alumnus, Glass said he sees his position as an opportunity to make a contribution his alma mater.
"This event is an opportunity for the students of Indiana University to speak with the athletics director in an informal setting," said Tyler Cowards, director of Spirits and Traditions for the Indiana Memorial Union Board. "This will hopefully allow the Athletics Department to hear student ideas on how to make IU athletic events a better experience."
