IU High School agreement contributes to Virtual Academy in Evansville, Ind.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Online courses from Indiana University High School (IUHS) are a major part of the curriculum for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp.'s (EVSC's) new Virtual Academy, as a result of a three-year agreement that will deliver high-quality IUHS course work to EVSC students online.
Giving Evansville students the opportunity to supplement their classroom curriculum with online course work is integral to the Evansville school corporation's strategic plan, said EVSC Chief Academic Officer David Dimmett.
"This partnership with the virtual Indiana University High School gives our students maximum access to a wide range of courses that will add to the richness of their overall learning experience," he said.
IUHS Director Bruce Colston applauded EVSC's leadership in incorporating technology into its high school curriculum. He described the agreement as groundbreaking.
"We are genuinely pleased to be a part of their vision," he said. "This is the first time Indiana University High School has signed an agreement with an entire school district. We hope to work with other school districts in the future as they weigh their options in adding online components to their corporation's curriculum."
Fully accredited by the North Central Association and CITA, accrediting divisions of AdvancED, Indiana University High School offers more than 100 distance education courses, including advanced placement courses. Developed and taught by Indiana-licensed teachers who are certified in their subject areas, IUHS courses are based on the Indiana core curriculum and evaluated by independent reviewers.
