Coach Hoeppner calls for 50,000 Hoosiers to pack 'The Rock' on Homecoming, Oct. 28

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana's 31-28 victory over No. 13 Iowa not only marked the Hoosiers' biggest win in 20 years, but also helped IU take a giant step toward its goal to "Play 13" games and qualify for a postseason bowl. The Hoosiers return home to face the Michigan State Spartans, Oct. 28, in a Homecoming game scheduled for 12 p.m. While Terry Hoeppner always has asked fans to "Defend The Rock," the second-year Hoosier head coach has issued another challenge.
"I'm challenging the Hoosier Nation to pack 'The Rock' with 50,000 screaming fans when we play Michigan State," Hoeppner said. "We want you to celebrate Homecoming, and help us earn another victory. Our fans have played a huge role in our progress this season. We have come a long way, but we have a way to go. It's always a lot more fun to have the fans with us on our journey to Play 13."
In addition to numerous Homecoming activities, the Coca-Cola Family 4-Pack offer has been extended for the Hoosiers' biggest home game in a decade. This offer includes four tickets to the game, four soft drinks, four hot dogs and four popcorns for only $88.
Approximately one hour after the conclusion of the Indiana-Michigan State football game, the IU basketball team will hold a public scrimmage on Branch McCracken Court at Assembly Hall. Coach Kelvin Sampson is counting on Hoosier fans to maximize this doubleheader opportunity.
"Coach Hoeppner and his staff have done an incredible job with the football program, and we need to get out and create a great home field advantage," Sampson said. "Fans often ask me what they can do to help the basketball program, and I tell them that they need to support the football program by attending games at The Rock. It not only helps basketball, but also our entire program."
