BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- An international symposium, "The Human Brain Evolving: Papers in Honor of Ralph L. Holloway," will take place Friday and Saturday (April 27-28) in Whittenberger Auditorium of the Indiana Memorial Union on the Indiana University Bloomington campus. The symposium is sponsored by the Stone Age Institute and Indiana University.

The event will feature two days of presentations by major researchers on diverse aspects of brain evolution. The range of specialties among the presenters from across the United States and abroad includes paleoneurology, human paleontology, archaeology, primatology and cognitive science.

"This symposium is open to anyone interested in learning more about the evolution of the human brain -- the general public, students and faculty," said Kathy Schick, co-director of the Stone Age Institute and professor of anthropology at IU Bloomington. "We have a distinguished roster of presenters and discussants who will speak on a range of fascinating aspects of brain evolution."

A list of those who will present papers can be found along with other details about the symposium at https://stoneageinstitute.org/c_events.shtml. A list of papers and abstracts is available at https://stoneageinstitute.org/PDFs/HumanBrainEvolvingAbstracts.pdf.

Registration for the symposium is open to the general public, students and faculty. The cost for the two-day symposium is $60 for professionals/general public and $35 for students. There are special events Friday night (dinner and entertainment) and Saturday night (limited-seating reception and dinner at the Stone Age Institute) for which those attending can register as well.
