IU Army ROTC is the best in the nation

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana University Army ROTC has been chosen as the No. 1 Senior Army ROTC program in the nation for 2007.
The Indiana University Army ROTC has been chosen as the No. 1 Senior Army ROTC program in the nation for 2007.
Presented annually, the award is sponsored by The Order of the Founders and Patriots of America, a civilian organization that has been preserving patriotism for more than 100 years. The IU Army ROTC will receive the award in a ceremony sometime in the fall. The IU Army ROTC program is one of 272 in the nation.
"This is a very prestigious award, and we would like to thank our entire cadre and cadets, alumni, friends and family for their enduring support and encouragement," said Maj. Todd Tinius, scholarship and enrollment officer in the Department of Military Science (Army ROTC) at IU.
Founded in 1896, the Order is made up of associates who trace their ancestry back to those first colonists and who have forefathers in the same male ancestral line who served in the American Revolution. Today, as in the past, it is composed of a wide range of individuals who are linked by a common heritage and dedicated to American ideals. The Order of the Founders and Patriots of America's goals include bringing together those who share this common heritage and promoting respect for the character and heroism of the founders and patriots of America.
IU Army ROTC is the fifth oldest program of its kind in the nation, dating back to 1840 at IU Bloomington. The IU Army ROTC is a world-class leadership development program that offers challenging, hands-on training to build confidence and character while developing leadership skills for future success.
Besides academics, Army ROTC cadets enjoy extracurricular events sponsored by organizations such as the Pershing Rifles, Ranger Challenge and Little 50. IU Army ROTC has been No. 1 (for 9th ROTC Brigade Southern Tier) in Ranger Challenge two years running. This winter, IU Army ROTC will host its third-annual German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency completion, hosting Army ROTC programs from universities throughout the Midwest region.
