BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University's Outdoor Adventures is hosting the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, currently on the road with stops planned in 285 communities and 30 countries.

This year's tour features a collection of some of the most inspiring, thought-provoking action, environmental and adventure mountain films. The films span remote landscapes and cultures and adrenaline-packed action sports.

"The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is one of Bloomington's most exciting film events of the year," said Ginelle Heller, custom experiences coordinator for IU Outdoor Adventures. "It's an opportunity to gain a glimpse into the lives of people who seek out risk and adventure and into the lives of people from cultures near and far. We are very lucky to have this world-renowned event happen in our town."

IU Outdoor Adventures will show several movies at the festival, including the feature films Red Gold, The Red Helmet, The Sharp End: Lisa Rands, Papiroflexia and Crux.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is produced by Mountain Culture at The Banff Centre in Canada and features award-winning films and audience favorites from approximately 300 films entered in the annual festival. The Banff Mountain Film Festival is an international film competition showcasing the world's best footage of mountain subjects. The festival began in 1976 and is held annually on the first weekend of November in Banff in Alberta, Canada.
