BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- This fall's India Studies lecture series at Indiana University will again bring leading political, art and cultural scholars of India and South Asia to the IU Bloomington campus.

The lecture series, which is free and open to the public, will begin on Friday (Sept. 11) with a presentation by Christophe Jaffrelot, the Alliance visiting professor at Columbia University and a leading India scholar in France and adviser to the French government.

Jaffrelot will speak on the topic "India's 2009 elections: The Resilience of Regionalism and Ethnicity" at 5:30 p.m. at the India Studies House (825 E. Eighth St.).
