Tonight's chamber concert by The Cleveland Orchestra's musicians cancelled

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The chamber concert scheduled to be performed by members of The Cleveland Orchestra tonight (Jan. 18) at 8:00 p.m. in Auer Concert Hall in the Simon Music Center has been cancelled due to a work stoppage by members of the orchestra.

"We are saddened that the orchestra members won't be here tonight for the scheduled chamber concert," said IU Auditorium Director Doug Booher, "but we are still hopeful that a resolution will be reached that will allow them to travel to Bloomington tomorrow to conduct the residency activities that have been planned which will be an important learning opportunities for the students."

Negotiations between the orchestra's management and musicians are ongoing , and it is yet to be determined if the orchestra will conduct their residency activities and the Indiana University Auditorium concert scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 8:00 p.m.

"While we're disappointed to learn that this evening's concert will not take place, we are hopeful that discussions taking place this afternoon might make possible the remainder of the IU residency," said Jacobs School of Music Dean Gwyn Richards.
