Coverage information about inauguration of IU President Adam W. Herbert

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University President Adam W. Herbert will be inaugurated Thursday (April 15) during a 3 p.m. ceremony in the IU Auditorium. Here is information for media members who may plan to cover the event.

Schedule for the day:

-- A portrait unveiling of Myles Brand, president emeritus, will take place in the east mezzanine of the Indiana Memorial Union at 10 a.m.

-- An exhibit highlighting inauguration ceremonies of past IU presidents will be on display in the Lilly Library's Lincoln Room. The exhibit is titled "From Andrew Wylie to Adam W. Herbert: Images of Presidential Inauguration Ceremonies." The library is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

-- Robing of delegates and those in the platform party will begin at approximately 2 p.m. We can assist with photo opportunities in and around the IU Auditorium.

-- The procession will begin at 3 p.m. at the Showalter Fountain on the west side of the IU Auditorium. More than 350 delegates, led by five presidents from other colleges and universities in Indiana, will march into the IU Auditorium.

-- Herbert will be available for brief one-on-one interviews immediately following the ceremony. We will escort you to the designated interview area. We expect the ceremony to conclude at approximately 5 p.m.

-- The public is invited to a public reception immediately following the event in the lobby of the IU Auditorium.

Other information:

-- A camera platform with available audio plug-in is located in the back half of the main level of the IU Auditorium.

-- Photographers are permitted only on the outside aisles along the wall of the IU Auditorium and from the back forward to Row 10.

-- The university will provide a live satellite feed of the ceremony. The uplink coordinates are C-Band Satellite AMC-9 (85 degrees West), Transponder 21, 4120 MHZ, Audio 6.2 & 6.8 mono. Testing will be from 2:45 to 3 p.m., and the program is from 3 to 5 p.m. All times are local for Indianapolis. WFYI in Indianapolis will receive the signal. Contact WFYI to arrange for a copy.

-- Limited media truck parking is available. Please contact us to make arrangements.

-- The ceremony will be available through live stream at https://www.broadcast.iu.edu.

-- The event will be simulcast to these locations on IU regional campuses and the IU Columbus facility: IU East, Whitewater Hall 119; IPFW, Kettler Hall 22; IUPUI, Education/Social Work 2132, University College 12 and School of Nursing 314; IU Kokomo, Library 105; IU Northwest, Hawthorn 318; IU South Bend, Northside 038 and Northside 152; IU Southeast, Library multi-purpose room; and IUPU Columbus, Main Building 165.
