BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Coffeehouse Nights -- an annual fall series blending music, coffee and art -- returns to the Indiana University Art Museum on Thursday, Sept. 2, from 7 to 9 p.m., and continues at the same time every Thursday through Sept. 16.

Each evening of culture and cuisine includes food and coffee samples provided by Bloomingfoods and Angles Café & Gift Shop, musical performances related to featured art exhibits and scavenger hunts with opportunities to win prizes.

The Sept. 2 event highlights the museum's Gallery of the Arts of Asia and the Ancient Western World, accompanied by the music of the Silk Road Ensemble, a Bloomington-based folk music group whose members play percussion, piano, sitar and violin

At the Sept. 9 event, patrons will get a closer look at the Gallery of the Art of the Western World, with an emphasis on Spanish art and live Spanish guitar performances.

The Sept. 16 event focuses on the Raymond and Laura Wielgus Gallery of the Arts of Africa, the South Pacific and the Americas with an evening of African art and drumming.

All three Coffeehouse Nights are free and open to the public.

"This fall's Coffeehouse Nights series offers a variety of performances highlighting diverse cultures," said Josie Larimer, manager of events for the IU Art Museum. "These fun evenings are casual and a great opportunity to meet and mingle with friends."
