SINGAPORE -- Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie is visiting the Republic of Singapore today, seeking to strengthen IU's connections with two of the Southeast Asian nation's leading universities.

McRobbie, accompanied by Vice President for International Affairs David Zaret, arrived in Singapore on May 23 as part of an 11-day, four-country trip, which began May 21, to Southeast Asia.

On May 23, he met with representatives from one of the leading academic institutions in the region, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

Today, he will sign new partnership agreements with the National University of Singapore. Included in the agreements with NUS are initiatives with its School of Business and the IU Center on Philanthropy.

McRobbie also will meet with IU alumni at a reception. IU has more than 700 living alumni in Singapore today. IU's ties to Singapore go back many decades.

Daily blog entries from the entire trip will be prepared by Shawn Conner, associate director of international partnerships at IU, and will be made available periodically in the IU News Room section of the university's website, and on the website for the Office of the President.

Photos and additional information about the trip can be made available upon request.
