EDITOR'S NOTE: Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie issued the following statement upon the announcement by Purdue University that it has selected Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels as its next president.

"IU congratulates Purdue on its selection of Mitch Daniels as its next president and wishes France Córdova well in her future endeavors. Governor Daniels is a strong leader with a demonstrated track record of success in both the public and private sectors, and I look forward to working with him to address some of the very real issues facing higher education both in Indiana and nationally. Like IU, Purdue is a vital component to the intellectual, cultural and economic success of the state of Indiana, and it is in the best interests of the state for both institutions to continue to grow and succeed. I offer my best wishes and support to Governor Daniels as he enters what certainly will be an exciting new chapter in his impressive career."
