Five new members elected to IU Foundation board of directors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Jeff M. Fettig, Alan B. Graf Jr., Louis G. Jordan, Glenn Scolnik and Randolph L. Seger have been elected to the Indiana University Foundation board of directors. The IU Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that oversees fundraising for all campuses of the university, provides administrative and development services for donors and for IU, and manages the university's endowment of more than $1 billion.

"These new members represent a broad range of talents and a shared commitment to the Indiana University tradition," said Foundation President Gene Tempel. "Each will bring valuable experience and expertise to our board, along with philanthropic leadership."

Fettig has been chairman and chief executive officer of Whirlpool Corp. since January 2004. He served as president and chief operating officer of Whirlpool from 1999 to 2004; executive vice president from 1994 to 1999; and president of Whirlpool Europe and Asia from 1994 to 1999. He joined Whirlpool in 1981 as an operations associate and progressed through different areas of Whirlpool's business, from the order desk to sales to marketing to general management. Fettig holds B.S. and M.B.A. degrees in finance from the IU Kelley School of Business.

Fettig is lead director of the Dow Chemical Company Board of Directors, where he has served since 2003. He is a member of Business Leaders for Michigan and the Business Roundtable Association. He serves as chairman of the Midwest region of Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Graf is executive vice president and chief financial officer of FedEx Corp. His responsibilities include all aspects of the corporation's global financial functions, including financial planning, treasury, tax, accounting and controls, internal audit and corporate development. He is a member of the five-person executive committee, which is responsible for planning and executing the corporation's strategic business activities. Before FedEx Corp. was formed in 1998, Graf served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of FedEx Express. He joined the company in 1980 as a senior financial analyst and has held management positions throughout the finance division.

Graf serves on the board of directors for NIKE Inc., Mid-America Apartment Communities Inc. and Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. He holds B.S. and M.B.A. degrees in finance from the IU Kelley School of Business.

Jordan is senior vice president, corporate finance of Starbucks Corp. and owner of Tympany Vineyards. At Starbucks, Jordan provides senior executive financial leadership to a wide range of business units and is responsible for global planning and reporting, and treasury and risk management. Prior to joining Starbucks, he served as the chief financial officer of global retail and digital commerce for Nike Inc., where his management scope included finance responsibility for all Nike-owned retail and factory stores as well as digital commerce activities globally. He joined Nike in 2003 as chief financial officer of USA retail, where he also headed up global business planning for two years. Jordan has previously worked for a succession of Fortune 500 companies, including DuPont, Dun & Bradstreet, Citibank, Duracell and The Gap.

Additionally, Jordan and his wife, Lynda, own a vineyard in Alexander Valley of Sonoma County, Calif., where they began producing estate-grown Bordeaux-style wine in 2006. He received a B.A. in history from Westmar College, M.A. in history from Brown University and M.B.A. in finance from the IU Kelley School of Business.

Chairman of Hammond, Kennedy, Whitney & Company Inc., Scolnik joined the firm in 1993 as managing director. He grew with the firm to become president and chief executive officer in 1998, moving to the chairman's position in 2009. From 1978 to 1992, he specialized in mergers and acquisitions at Sommer & Barnard P.C., now Taft Stettinius & Hollister.

Prior to launching his law career, Scolnik played professional football for several teams including the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League and two teams in the Canadian Football League. He is a member of the NFL Players Association and was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame in 2000. Scolnik holds a B.S. in business and government relations from the Kelley School of Business and a J.D., with honors, from the IU Maurer School of Law.

Partner of Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP, Seger chairs the law firm's utility group and has practiced for over 40 years before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, other state, local and federal courts, and boards and regulatory/governing agencies. Throughout his career, he has advised utilities and other organizations on mergers, acquisitions, rates, financing and certifications and approvals related to the telecommunications, sewer and water, and energy industries. Seger has worked with various municipalities, investor-owned utilities and developers on utility matters including expansion and extension of utilities for economic development. He has advised agribusiness interests in organization, expansion, contractual and utility/environmental issues, and participates as a director and officer in the operation of agribusinesses and renewable energy businesses.

Seger is very involved in his community and is on the board of directors for Wabash Valley Produce Inc.; the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis; Carbon Cycle Technologies LLC; and The Alliance: A Forum for Indiana Business Leaders. He is a member of the Indiana State Poultry Association and the regulatory law group of the National Association of Water Companies. He is past president and chair of the utility law section of the Indiana State Bar Association and fellow of the Indiana State Bar Foundation and the Indianapolis Bar Foundation. He holds a B.S., cum laude, in marketing from the Kelley School of Business and a J.D., magna cum laude, from the Maurer School of Law.
