BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- At the request of the family of Indiana University football coach Terry Hoeppner, the public is invited to a "Celebration of Life" for Coach Hep at noon, Saturday (June 23) in Assembly Hall.

Doors will open at 11:30 a.m., and those attending should enter via the north or south entrance of the facility.

All other services will be private.

Hoeppner, 59, passed away June 19 at 6:50 a.m. at Bloomington Hospital due to complications from a brain tumor that had been treated surgically and therapeutically over the past 18 months.

He was named IU's 26th head football coach on December 17, 2004, and he and his coaching staff worked tirelessly to generate enthusiasm and passion for the program in Bloomington.

"Terry's fight was courageous and will serve as an inspiration to those who have known him," said IU Director of Athletics Rick Greenspan. "This is a truly sad day for our community and all of our thoughts and prayers are with the Hoeppner family and to those whose lives he has touched."
