CHICAGO -- In a tough economy, little details make a big difference for women striving for the top of the corporate ladder. On Wednesday, Nov. 12, four of Chicago's most accomplished women from the fields of finance, advertising, real estate, and internet marketing will give their insights on "A Woman's View from the Top" as part of an event sponsored by PrivateBank and the Chicago Alumni Chapter of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

The event features Kelley School alumni who are exceptional in the areas of innovative thinking, management style, making connections and developing personal specializations. Panelists will discuss the "new rules" of etiquette, communications and politicking. They will also take participant questions. Attendees will have time before and after the panel to network, socialize and meet the panelists.

Participants include:

Fay Ferguson, an MBA alum of the Kelley School of Business is credited with some of the Burrell Communications Group's impressive growth, including new business wins from clients such as Allstate Insurance Co. and pharmaceutical/healthcare companies Zimmer, Pfizer and Abbott Laboratories.

Katherine Abbott of Orbitz Worldwide, Inc. is an alum of Kelley's undergraduate program and handles the firm's global treasury and risk management. Karen Case oversees PrivateBanks relationships with developers, owners, and operators of commercial real estate. Finally, Michelle Seitz, an undergraduate alum, oversees leads William Blair & Company's Investment Management group, which has over $44 billion in assets.

Dean Patricia McDougall -- an expert in management and entrepreneurship who guides the Kelley School's support for its faculty and their research -- will moderate the event. "The Kelley School of Business prepares people for top roles in corporations all over the world, but the fact that three of our four panelists are Kelley graduates and also Chicago business leaders in a variety of fields demonstrates how Kelley fosters women executives. The school's mission is to transform lives, organizations, and communities through education and research -- and one way we do that is by promoting diversity in business leadership," McDougall observed.

"A Woman's View from the Top: Observations and Strategies" will take place Wednesday, November 12 from 7 to 9 pm at the Chicago Westin River North. The cost is $10 for Indiana University Alumni Association members and $20 for nonmembers. Online registration is available at https://kelley.iu.edu/alumni/calendar and additional information can be obtained by calling 812-855-6340.
