Dr. Roman Maximilian Ivanovitch

Background:
Dr. Ivanovich received his PhD in 2004 from Yale University with a dissertation entitled "Mozart and the Environment of Variation," which examines the role of variation as a pervasive element of Mozart's musical language. He has given papers on Mozart at regional and national conferences in Boston and Oxford, England, and has served as an editorial assistant for the Journal of Music Theory and as a committee member for the New England Conference of Music Theorists.His research interests include continued study of musical form in the late-eighteenth century and listener-based approaches to music analysis. He also has an active interest in guitar-based blues, focusing particularly on notions of improvisation, influence, and style, a topic he has addressed at a conference on popular music in Austin, Texas.
He has taught previously at Yale University.
