Computer-mediated communication, gender and the internet, linguistics, weblogs

Background:

Susan Herring studies gender differences in Internet use, along with the features, uses and emergent norms associated with new Internet genres such as instant messaging and weblogs. One study looked over a 25 year-period at how the Internet is changing the English language.
