Thomas Kaufman is chief investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute on the Bloomington campus where he studies effects of induced genetic mutations. His laboratory works closely with IU's Drosophila Stock Center, a major source of fruit flies for researchers throughout the world. He is also Adjunct Professor of Medical Genetics (School of Medicine-Indianapolis).
