• Won Pulitzer Prize in 1980 for nonfiction for his book, "Godel, Escher, Bach: an Eternal Golden Braid."
• Studies cognitive science, philosophy of the mind, and discovery and creation in mathematics and music.
• Main focus of research is on emergent models of high-level perception and analogical thought.
