Background:
- Director, Student-Employee Health Services, IU Medical Center.
- Responsible for the original concept of the Otis R. Bowen Research Center, the country's first endowed research center for family medicine, which focuses on preventive health, rural health, and health-care services research.
- Frequent lecturer, presenter, and author on topics such as women in medicine, stress within the medical profession, and the declining interest in family medicine.
- Has served as a medical missionary in Honduras and Peru and in various community service positions on public health issues such as drunk driving and smoking.
