May madness: IU's Crean will get face-to-face with recruits, players

Sometimes, if you're Indiana University basketball coach Tom Crean, you want to reach out and hug somebody in general, a recruit in particular. And if that somebody is say, 6 feet 9 and 240 pounds and looms as the next LeBron James, all the better.
That's what the month of May is for in IU basketball recruiting circles. It's time to get the best players possible on campus for unofficial visits so you can go beyond the Twittering and Facebooking and all the other ways of talking without human interaction.
"Phones get old," Crean said. "E-mails get old. You have to get that face-to-face contact. We're looking forward to that."
