Indiana's fall sports programs got off to a quick start this fall and continue going strong. Below are some quick tidbits on each team.
Field Hockey: Amy Robertson's field hockey program currently stands at 7-4 on the year. This past weekend the Hoosiers won a pair of road contests against Iowa and California. They play at home this Friday against Michigan State at 3:00 p.m. at the IU Field Hockey Field adjacent to Armstrong Stadium.
Football: The Hoosiers are 3-2 on the season. They travel to Richmond, Virginia, this weekend for their final non-conference game of the year with the University of Virginia Cavaliers. Kickoff is 3:30 p.m.
Men's Cross Country: The Indiana men's cross country team took the team crown at the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa., outrunning two ranked teams in the process. The Hoosiers finished with 44 points, while No. 7 Iona finished second with 55 points and No. 19 North Carolina State was third with 87 points. The win put IU into the USTFCCCA coaches poll at No. 17. Redshirt freshman Andy Bayer was selected as Big Ten Runner of the Week for his performance.
Women's Cross Country: At the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa., the women's team took third, paced by Wendi Robinson, who finished fourth in 20:04. She was one of three Hoosiers to finish in the top twenty and was choosen Big Ten Runner of the Week.
Men's Soccer: The Hoosiers have started the year at 5-3-1 and are ranked No. 9 in the country. Last week, they defeated Kentucky and dropped a decision to No. 11 UC Santa Barbara.
Women's Soccer: Mick Lyon's Hoosiers are off to one of the best starts in school history. They currently stand at 9-3-1 on the year.
Volleyball: Sherry Dunbar's Hoosiers are 13-5 overall and 2-2 in conference action. The Hoosiers are receiving votes in the latest Top 25 poll and have knocked off two ranked teams in the last two weeks. And they beat Purdue!
