Web site created for IU athletics director search

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- As part of its national search for a new athletics director, Indiana University is posting an advertisement in several leading newspapers and has created a special Web site to present complete information about the position's qualifications.

The Web site -- located online at https://www.indiana.edu/~adsearch/ -- informs prospective candidates and others about IU's proud tradition of maintaining strong academic standards for its nationally competitive sports programs. It also provides information about how candidates can apply and a link to a private e-mail address for those who wish to contact the search committee with comments or questions.

"We stated from the beginning that this is a wide open search," said IU Alumni Association President Ken Beckley, who is leading the search process.

"As part of that effort, we have launched a Web site that will give all interested parties a great deal of information about the qualifications we are seeking, including the job description itself, as well as information about Indiana University, the Bloomington campus and the Department of Athletics," Beckley said. "We think this site will be extremely beneficial to prospective candidates and should show how serious we are about seeking a diverse pool of candidates."

The University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics is responsible for managing IU's NCAA Division I athletics program on the Bloomington campus, including a $39 million dollar budget and compliance for 24 men's and women's teams. The position also has oversight of certain aspects of athletic programs on six other IU campuses.

Review of applications and nominations will begin immediately, with the submission of a letter of interest and resume. The deadline for submissions of interest is July 16. The address where they should be submitted is available at the Web site.
