Sharry Lee Gregory of Indianapolis wins 150th anniversary puzzle contest
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University alumna Sharry Lee Gregory plans to shop for some more cream and crimson, courtesy of the Indiana University Alumni Association. Gregory, of Indianapolis, is the winner of the Indiana Challenge puzzle contest. The prize is a $150 gift certificate that can be redeemed for official IU gifts and merchandise.
Gregory, a life member of IUAA, is a strong supporter of the IU men's basketball program and plans to use the gift certificate to purchase some new "game clothes." She attended IU Bloomington and received her undergraduate degree from the School of Education in 1978.
The Indiana Challenge puzzle contest is one of many events and activities in a year-long celebration of IUAA's 150th anniversary of serving the university and its more than 460,000 alumni worldwide.
The Indiana Challenge online puzzle was contributed by New York Times crossword puzzle editor and National Public Radio regular Will Shortz, who received a bachelor of arts degree from IU in 1974.
Between July 22 and August 10, thousands of visitors to IUAA's Web site had the opportunity to solve 15 clues to two-word phrases. Gregory was one of 103 entrants who achieved a perfect score. Her name was selected in a random drawing from those who solved the puzzle correctly.
