BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Cirque Dreams Holidaze will illuminate the IU Auditorium stage, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m., kicking off a series of holiday shows scheduled to take place at the auditorium through Dec. 17.

Cirque Dreams Holidaze

Cirque Dreams "Holidaze"

A musical and acrobatic extravaganza, Cirque Dreams Holidaze brings Christmas novelties and ornaments on stage to life. An international cast of 30 artists transform into gingerbread men flipping mid-air, toy soldiers marching on thin wires, snowmen daringly balancing, icemen powerfully sculpting, penguins spinning, puppets caroling and reindeer soaring high above a holiday landscape.

Since the creation of Cirque Productions in 1993, the company's founder, producer and artistic director, Neil Goldberg, has designed and created productions for the Super Bowl and NBA, also collaborating with top symphony orchestras and arts programs for children. Cirque Dreams was the first production company of its kind to combine European cirque performance styles with American circus acts.

Other Cirque Dreams productions include Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy, Cirque Dreams Coobrila at Six Flags theme parks throughout the U.S., Cirque Dreams Pandemonia and Cirque Dreams Illumination, which was part of IU Auditorium's 2009-2010 season.

"Our audiences just loved Cirque Dreams Illumination last year, and we're excited to have the opportunity to showcase another of these of these spectacular productions," said IU Auditorium Director Doug Booher. "The performers of Holidaze will amaze the audience with their artistic abilities."

More than 50 million fans worldwide have attended a Cirque Dreams show in the past decade. In 2009 Cirque Productions premiered the first touring season of Cirque Dreams Holidaze, grossing more than 10 million dollars in ticket sales, breaking box office records and entertaining more than 200,000 spectators.

In 2008 Cirque Dreams made Broadway history by presenting Goldberg's Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy at the Broadway Theatre, the first and only show of its kind to ever be performed on Broadway. The production recently remounted for a limited 2010 summer engagement at the MGM Grand/Foxwoods featuring pop star Debbie Gibson in the singing role of Mother Nature, and a new year-round version of the show will open December 1, 2010 at Busch Gardens Tampa. Between now and the end of 2010, Cirque Dreams brand shows will be performed in more than 35 cities across the nation.

"Cirque Dreams Holidaze follows in the spirit of the Cirque Dreams entertainment brand first established in 1993 -- to produce high-quality, affordable family entertainment that blends multiple performance genres and Broadway theatrics with international talent, European and American circus artistry and limitless imagination," said creator-director Goldberg.
