IPFW professor elected Midwest chair of National Interior Design Educators

Suining Ding, Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) associate professor of interior design, has been elected Midwest regional chair for the Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC).

Ding, who is also the interior design program coordinator, will begin her duties in May, and will serve as Midwest regional chair for a two-year term.

The Interior Design Educators Council is the only professional organization for interior design education in the nation, providing opportunities to exchange innovative teaching and research ideas and stimulating dialogue about current issues related to interior design. Ding's role in the organization will directly benefit IPFW, as the interior design program gains regional and national exposure.

Ding teaches interior design studio and lecture courses for the program, including computer 3D modeling, freehand sketching, and cross-cultural comparison of architecture, as well as senior capstone courses.

"The courses I teach integrate my research interests, which provide the opportunity to expose students to scholarly activities in the classroom," Ding said. "I am honored to work with IDEC membership to make the organization even stronger for a new generation of interior designers."

For more information, contact Suining Ding, interior design program coordinator, at 260-481-6008 or dings@ipfw.edu.
