Hoosiers in seventh at Big Ten Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The Indiana Hoosiers men's golf team is in seventh place after posting a two-round total of 10-over 596 during the first day of action at the Big Ten Championships at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.

David Erdy leads the way for the Hoosiers, tying for sixth, after a 1-over 145 (73-72). Erdy's day included six birdies all coming on the back nine, as well as an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole during round two.

The tandem of Chase Wright and Corey Ziedonis are tied for 18th heading into the day two. The pair each finished the day with a 4-over 148 (74-74).

Brant Peaper is tied for 44th after an 11-over 155 (77-78) and David Mills recorded a 14-over 158 (78-80).

The Hoosiers are within five shots of third place Penn State ( 15), while Illinois ( 5) and Iowa ( 10) round out the top-three. Michigan ( 16), Northwestern ( 18), and Purdue ( 18) occupy the rest of the top-five.

Chris Brant of Iowa is in the individual lead after posting a 5-under 139 (67-72).

Indiana will get things started on Saturday at 9:50 a.m. There will be 18 holes tomorrow followed by an 18-hole final round on Sunday.
