Gahm Continues Play with Round 2 of NCAA Women’s Golf Regional

May 6, 2011

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Indiana University freshman golfer Lindsay Gahm posted an 85 in round two of the NCAA Women's Golf Central Regional Friday afternoon at the Warren Course in South Bend, Ind.

Coupled with a round of 79 on Thursday, Gahm is tied for 109th with a score of 164 (79-85).

Gahm started the day on the 10th hole, recording a bogey. After pars on 11 and 12, that extra stroke was erased with a birdie on the par-4 13th hole. She added another par on 14 before moving back to 1 with a bogey on 15.

Gahm breezed through hole 16 with a par but ended the first half of her round with a bogey on 17 and a double bogey on 18, dropping her to 4.

The freshman's struggles continued over the final nine holes, posting five bogeys and carding a nine on the par-5 fifth hole for a 13-over round of 85.

"It was a tough day for Lindsay," said head coach Clint Wallman. "She fought through the first nine and did the best she could. She hit a tough stretch with holes three through five and although she had some good shots, it was tough to recover."

Gahm will wrap up the 54-hole tournament with an 8:55 a.m. ET tee time on Saturday.

"I know Lindsay will focus on tomorrow and try to close with a good round," Wallman said. "She has had a fantastic freshman year, one of the best every by a Hoosier, and her year will not be determined by a couple of rounds."
