May 21, 2011

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. -- The Indiana Hoosiers men's golf team posted a 10-over 294 (293-295-294---882) in Saturday's final round at the NCAA Indiana Regional at Wolf Run Golf Club to finish tied for eighth with Wake Forest and Florida State. Corey Ziedonis fired a 2-under 69 and just missed a spot in a playoff for the low individual not on a top-five team and a birth to the NCAA Finals. Wake Forest's Lee Bedford birdied the 18th hole to earn the trip to Stillwater, Okla. for the finals.

Michigan finished 11-under (278-288-275---841) to claim the regional team title. Illinois (-9), Alabama (-5), Tennessee ( 13), and Iowa ( 13) rounded out the top-five to earn trips to the finals. Illinois Luke Guthrie and Michigan's Lion Kim shared individual medalist honors after each finishing 8-under.

Ziedonis (70-74-69---213) ended the tournament tied for 11th overall, his best finish of the 2011 campaign. The Indianapolis, Ind. native had seven birdies on the day, including three in his last four holes on his way to a 3-under 32 on his back nine.

David Mills recorded his best round of the tournament on Saturday, registering an even-par 72 (76-74-72---222) to finish tied for 34th. The freshman had three birdies on the day, before ending the round with a double-bogey on par-4 9th.

David Erdy and Chase Wright struggled during the final round. Erdy ended with a 6-over 78 (71-74-78---223) to finish 40th, while Wright finished with a 7-over 79 (76-73-79---228) and tied for 52nd.

Brant Peaper rounded out the Indiana lineup in a tie for 57th after a 3-over 75 (78-76-75---229).
