In the steeplechase, Indiana advanced three men and a woman to Des Moines. Pease took third in her heat to earn an automatic berth in the meet, clocking a time of 10:09.14. The three men each qualified out of different heats. In the first of three heats, Poore clocked a time of 8:51.32 for second and an auto spot. In the second heat, Weatherford clocked a time of 8:46.62 for fourth and got in based on his time. The third heat was won by Turner in 8:39.40. Weatherford and Turner both posted career times. Turner's time is the third best in IU history, and Weatherford's puts him seventh in IU lore.

Devin Pipkin narrowly missed out on a trip to Des Moines, finishing just .01 out of the top 12 in the 100 meters. He clocked a time of 10.44 seconds, which tied him for 14th.

Emma Kimoto similarly missed out in the high jump, clearing a career best 1.78m (5-10) for 13th. Kimoto's clearance is tied for the third best in IU history.
