Stewart is one of America's best-known social commentators. As host of "The Daily Show," which also captured an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Series during this year's Emmy Awards ceremony on Sept. 18, Stewart has interviewed some of the most important authors, political luminaries and personalities. As the New York Times best-selling author of both EARTH (THE BOOK): A Visitor's Guide to the Human Race and AMERICA (THE BOOK): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction, Stewart is also the co-creator and executive producer of the Emmy-award winning Comedy Central show "The Colbert Report."

Since Stewart became host in 1999, "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" has won a total of 17 Emmy Awards. In 2001 and 2005, the show received the Peabody Award for its campaign coverage of "Indecision 2000" and "Indecision 2004." In addition to appearing on the covers of Newsweek, Rolling Stone and GQ, Stewart was Entertainment Weekly's "Entertainer of the Year" and Variety's "New York Entertainer of the Year" in 2004. He was named to Time magazine's inaugural Time 100 list of the world's most influential people.

"Funny man extraordinaire Jon Stewart became famous worldwide for his brutally honest and incredibly hilarious political satire as host of 'The Daily Show,'" said IU Auditorium Director Doug Booher. "He evokes intelligent political opinions with piercingly sharp wit as he ridicules the actions of our nation's leaders and mocks decisions made on Capitol Hill in a comical, insightful and always entertaining performance."
