This national award was developed at Syracuse University to recognize the research contributions of an outstanding scholar in the field of entrepreneurship.

As part of the award proceedings, McDougall-Covin, who is the William L. Haeberle Professor of Entrepreneurship, delivered a presentation on international entrepreneurship. She is considered one of the world's leading researchers on his topic.

Her talk, titled "Untangling the Relationship Between New Venture Internationalization and Performance," revealed the development of new ventures as they seek to establish global strategies on their overall financial performance.

The inscription on the award presented to McDougall-Covin reads: "For outstanding contributions to entrepreneurship thought and practice."

McDougall-Covin is the fourth IU Kelley professor to be recognized in recent years with a distinguished entrepreneurship scholar award.

Jeffrey G. Covin, the Glaubinger Professor of Entrepreneurship, received the Falcone Award in 2005; Dean A. Shepherd, the Randall L. Tobias Chair in Entrepreneurial Leadership, received the Falcone Award in 2007; and Donald F. Kuratko, the Jack M. Gill Chair of Entrepreneurship, received the Riata Distinguished Scholar Award in 2010.
