IU Alumni Association partners with Martin Direct Marketing to expand advertising, sponsorships

Collaboration points to wider reach of marketing efforts

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana University Alumni Association has contracted with Martin Direct Marketing of Greenwood, Ind., to sell advertising for the award-winning Indiana Alumni Magazine and to develop sponsorship opportunities for the IUAA.

"We are pleased to partner with an IU-alumni-owned business with expertise in this field," says J Thomas Forbes, executive director and CEO of the IU Alumni Association. "Martin Direct will help us create new business partnerships that provide value to both our members and our sponsorship partners."

John and Sharon Martin, both IU graduates and lifetime members of the IUAA, own and operate Martin Direct Marketing. The couple brings more than two decades of experience to the partnership with IUAA.

The Martins run a direct-mail advertising franchise and do independent advertising sales for other organizations. John Martin began his sales career at the Indiana Daily Student and has worked in advertising sales at The Cincinnati Enquirer and The Indianapolis Star. Sharon Martin also began her sales career at the Indiana Daily Student and has worked as a marketing manager at The Indianapolis Star and the Children's Museum of Indianapolis.

Martin Direct Marketing will sell commercial advertising for Indiana Alumni Magazine. The Martins also will represent the IUAA in partnering with sponsors for events and programs, such as the football-tailgating event Hoosier Village and We Are IU alumni events around the world.
