Kelley School accounting programs climb to No. 6 in national ranking

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Public Accounting Report issued its 24th Annual Professors Survey and ranked the Indiana University Kelley School of Business graduate programs sixth in the nation, up from eighth last year. The undergraduate program moved from 11th to ninth, while the doctoral accounting program at the school was newly ranked at eighth in the nation.
Accounting graduate programs at the Kelley School have maintained a top 10 national ranking among programs of their type since their inception in 1997. Through the Systems and Accounting Graduate Programs, the Kelley School offers both an MBA degree in accounting and a Master of Professional Accountancy degree for students who want to set themselves apart with outstanding problem-solving and creative-thinking skills.
"We are very pleased with our rankings and believe they are a good indication of our programs," said Joseph G. Fisher, chair of the Department of Accounting, professor of accounting and Fed Ex Faculty Fellow. "This the largest national survey of accounting academics, and professionals also place much value on it, so we are excited to have been included among the top programs."
The bachelor of science in accounting curriculum at the Kelley School prepares students for careers in auditing, corporate accounting, management consulting, governmental and not-for-profit organizations, and taxation. It equips the prospective business executive with tools for intelligent analysis, planning, control and decision making. Graduates of this program have been and continue to be among the leaders of the profession and the worldwide business community.
The placement rate for Kelley graduates with a concentration in accounting ranges from 90 to 100 percent each year.
In previous years, only the top five doctoral programs were ranked by the survey. The survey asks accounting professors and department chairs and heads to identify the top undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs they believe most consistently produce students capable of someday reaching partner status.
Among Indiana schools, the University of Notre Dame's Medoza College of Business also was ranked by the industry newsletter, with its undergraduate program ranked third and its masters degree program fourth.
