April 18, 2006

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- WFIU's Nicole Beemsterboer has been chosen as one of two people selected nationwide to participate in this summer's "All Things Considered" internship program. In addition to her internship, she recently was recognized as IU's Student Employee of the Year.

She joined WFIU in September 2002. While at WFIU she was chosen as one of seven students nationwide to participate in NPR's Next Generation Radio "boot camp." Nicole's work has been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists and the Radio-Television News Directors Association. Her 2005 feature "My Favorite Things," won the regional Edward R. Murrow Award for best feature.

Nicole will graduate in May from Indiana University Bloomington with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and French.
