The great American novelist Kurt Vonnegut Jr. has called it "the most respectable writers' conference that I know of." The IU Writers' Conference, now celebrating its 66th year, will host a number of nationally prominent writers who are also excellent teachers, including Indiana University's own Samrat Upadhyay, whose recent short story collection, The Royal Ghosts, has received critical acclaim. From Sunday through Thursday, June 11-15, the writers will deliver free public readings from their work at a special Evening Reading Series. The readings will start at 8 p.m. each evening in the Harry G. Day Lecture Hall of IU's Chemistry Building and will be followed by a reception with free refreshments in the University Club at the Indiana Memorial Union. The evening readings are free and open to the public. To read more about the conference and to see the schedule of readings, visit http://newsinfo.iu.edu/web/page/normal/3563.html
