Bloomington chancellor recognizes Greenfield's Keen as one of IU's top students

BLOOMINGTON, Ind -- Ashley Keen of Greenfield, Ind., has been named a Chancellor's Scholar at the Bloomington campus of Indiana University. Keen, a junior, is majoring in journalism.

The Chancellor's Scholarship honors the best undergraduate students in each school on campus. This distinction involves more than a student's grade point average. It also takes into consideration how students excel academically by performing well, taking leadership roles in different courses, doing outstanding work on research projects and other factors.

Faculty in each school select the student who has most distinguished himself or herself in all phases of academics.

The award, which includes a special book from that academic discipline or membership in a professional society, also carries a scholarship. Presentations were made by IU Bloomington Chancellor Sharon Stephens Brehm and school deans at a recent campus reception. The students selected are in their next-to-last year of study.

Hometown information: Ashley Keen is the daughter of Robert and Margaret Keen, 4539 E. 500 North, Greenfield, Ind.
