Editors: Candidates in the 2006 Indiana 9th Congressional District race have agreed to meet for a live televised debate at the studios of WTIU Public Television on the Indiana University Bloomington campus, Thursday, Aug. 31, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. EDT. WTIU Public Television will produce the event. The station will also produce the live broadcast and distribute it to television and radio stations in Indiana and Louisville.

A panel of three journalists from throughout the district will ask questions. Viewers will be able to submit questions via toll-free telephone, fax and e-mail.

The debate will take place in WTIU-TV Studio 6, located at the IU Radio-TV Services Building, located between the Wells Library and the IU Auditorium at 1229 E. 7th St., Bloomington.

There will be no studio audience. Reporters from familiar media outlets will be allowed to view the debate inside the studio, but are required to request credentials in order to attend.
