Deal with IBM targets new jobs, IU computer upgrade

IBM Corp. dangled two attractive offers -- 1,000 new jobs and a big expansion of Indiana University's powerful supercomputer -- before state officials in the company's negotiations for a contract to upgrade Indiana's welfare system. IU and Purdue would jointly own the new "e1350 BladeCenter Cluster," which would be located at the same IU complex that houses Big Red.
