Top U.S. health official draws crowd of 400

Although the United States spends $2 trillion -- or 16 percent of the gross national product -- on health care, the investment has not paid off, the acting U.S. surgeon general told an Indiana University audience Wednesday. Dr. Kenneth Moritsugu, appointed to the interim position in July as the nation's chief health educator, challenged IU students and faculty to refocus attention on prevention of chronic diseases and improving the health of Hoosiers. IU invited him to speak as part of the 60th anniversary celebration of IU's School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation.
