IU Trustees select Michael A. McRobbie as 18th president -- The Trustees of Indiana University today (March 1) unanimously approved the appointment of Michael A. McRobbie as the 18th president of the 187-year-old institution with eight campuses and more than 97,000 students. Read the full story.

Hamilton, former U.S. congressman from Indiana and co-chair of the Iraq Study Group and Baker-Hamilton Commission, will speak at a public forum benefiting the International Kidney Stone Institute. Men's baseball -- IU travels to Memphis, Tenn., to play Eastern Illinois at 12 p.m. CT.

Women's basketball -- The women travel to Indianapolis to play Ohio State in the Big Ten Conference Tournament at 6 p.m. ET.

Women's swimming -- The IU women's swimming team travels to Ann Arbor, Mich., to compete all day in the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships.

Men's swimming -- The IU men's swimming team travels to Ann Arbor, Mich., to compete all day in the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships.

Schedule for Saturday, March 3:

Women's tennis -- The IU women's tennis team plays Wisconsin at home in Bloomington at 10 a.m. ET.

Men's tennis -- The IU men's tennis team is on the road to play Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio, at 12 p.m. ET.

Men's baseball -- The IU men's baseball team plays Memphis at 3:30 p.m. CT in Memphis, Tenn.

Softball -- The IU women's softball team travels to Carbondale, Ill., to play Western Illinois at 4 p.m. ET followed by a game against Ohio at 6 p.m. ET.

Men's basketball -- The IU men's basketball team takes on Penn State at home in Bloomington at 8 p.m. ET. The game can be viewed on local TV and ESPN Plus.

Women's track -- The IU women's track team travels to South Bend, Ind., to compete in the Notre Dame Qualifier. Time will be announced later.

McRobbie looks to compete
Indianapolis Star, March 2 -- When Michael McRobbie said Thursday that Indiana University was at a crossroads, the next IU president was talking about the need to meet competition across the globe for top-notch students, faculty and scarce government aid. But the Australian scientist also pledged to tackle some problems on the IU home front -- namely to strengthen the image of the president's office and ease tensions between IU's two main campuses. "My vision for Indiana University requires a balanced partnership between our two major research campuses" in Bloomington and Indianapolis, McRobbie told a crowded auditorium at IUPUI.
