Celebration of diverse Asian cultures, history and peoples at IU begins Friday -- On Friday (March 30), Indiana University will begin its annual early observance of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, which honors the rich history and presence of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States. IU SIFE team wins at regional competition -- The Indiana University-Bloomington SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) team has won the SIFE USA Regional Championship. The IUB SIFE team won the regional championship after presenting a report of their yearlong community outreach projects to a panel of business leaders. With this victory, the team now advances to the national SIFE competition, which will be held at the SIFE USA National Exposition, May 6-8 in Dallas. Read the complete story.

Singing Hoosiers Present 57th Annual Spring Concert -- Join Indiana University's Singing Hoosiers for an annual spring concert, "A Celebration of American Popular Song" on March 31, at 8 p.m. in the IU Auditorium. This is the 57th year for the concert. Read the complete story.

Hoosiers visit local boys and girls club -- Members of the Indiana men's soccer team visited the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club recently to celebrate National Boys and Girls Club Week, held March 25-31, 2007. Read the complete story.

IUPUI student spends his spring break 'homeless' on Indianapolis streets
Indiana Daily Student, March 27 -- Over his spring break, Kyle Walke posed as a homeless person in Indianapolis to experience the tasks and challenges that real homeless people face daily. Walke, who is studying social work, lived on the streets from March 9 to 15 and plans to make a documentary about his experience. Read the complete story.

Richmond Palladium-Item, March 27 -- IU East Assistant Professor of English Jean Harper has arranged for her students to meet with Dan Wakefield, the author of Going All the Way and Starting Over. The visit is the result of ongoing conversations between Harper and Wakefield regarding the contents of his (and her) books. Read the complete story.

Study: Drugs as effective as stent
Associated Press, March 27 -- More than half a million people a year with chest pain are getting an unnecessary or a premature procedure to unclog their arteries because drugs are just as effective, suggests a landmark study that challenges one of the most common practices in heart care. But IU School of Medicine cardiologist Jeffrey Breall says stents have not been shown to extend life or prevent heart attacks in patients with chronic stable angina, a fairly common condition.
